Who is responsible

Emma Townsend is the data controller for personal information collected through emmatownsendbooks.space. Privacy questions and rights requests can be made through the Contact page.

What is collected

If you join the mailing list, the site stores your email address, subscription status, consent and confirmation dates, unsubscribe status and security tokens needed to provide access to The Snug. Limited technical information may be recorded in normal hosting logs for security and reliability. The site does not create advertising profiles or collect payment information.

Why it is used

Your email address is used only to send the newsletters and book-launch messages you explicitly requested, confirm your subscription, provide one-use access links to The Snug and keep a minimal suppression record if you unsubscribe. The lawful basis is your consent under UK GDPR and, where applicable, EU GDPR. Security logging is used for the legitimate interest of protecting the website and its readers.

Who can see it

The subscriber list and member records are visible only to Emma through the Google-protected administration area. They are not displayed publicly. Fasthosts and the configured email-delivery service may process the minimum information necessary to host the website and deliver requested messages, acting as service providers rather than using the list for their own marketing.

How long it is kept

Active subscriber information is retained while you remain subscribed. When you unsubscribe, mailings and access stop promptly. A minimal suppression record may be kept so your opt-out continues to be respected. Security logs are retained according to the hosting provider’s operational policy.

Your choices and rights

You may withdraw consent at any time through the unsubscribe link in every newsletter. You may also ask for access to, correction of, deletion of or restriction on your personal information, object where applicable, or request a portable copy. You may complain to the UK Information Commissioner’s Office or, where EU GDPR applies, your local supervisory authority.

International processing

If a necessary hosting or email provider processes information outside the UK or European Economic Area, appropriate contractual or legal safeguards must be used. The list is not transferred for advertising or data-broker purposes.

Keeping information safe

Subscriber records are stored outside the public website folder. Administration requires the approved Google account, and access to The Snug uses one-use security links and protected sessions. No internet service can promise absolute security, but access is limited and reasonable safeguards are applied.
